random thoughts...

well i have gotten some music to review...i am just finding it really hard...i think my brain will not accept any music past the 90s... i mean, yeah, i dig like 30 seconds to mars and queens of the stone age and white stripes, just to name a few...but it is so hard listening to the same thing for over 15 years, but it wont leave my brain...i allow my 10 year old to listen to her pop station on the way home from skool, but it wont register as something i need to run out and buy...i just need like a 90s revival..i guess that wont happen for another 20 years or so...generation x will be copied by angst filled teens who want to rebel, like the hippies that still exist...hey, i got sucked into the 60s when i was back in high skool, so i am not the best person to talk to relating that...i have decided for the time being, i am just going to point out little things that may get to my head, and i want to share with you...hope you can find something interesting or lame, whatever the case may be...im a dork at heart...

a review i found

well i found this review of stephen marley's-mind control...it is a tad old, but it is a really good cd...this is just to give you a taste...

Title: album review: stephen marley-MIND CONTROLArticle: Stephen Marley-Mind ControlThe genetics of the marley family is nonparallel. Offspring to offspring the legacy continues. For a few years we have had Damien"Jr. Gong" Marley and now, and now we have Stephen. Mind Control, his debut album, is to say the least a great one. I would not want to categorize it for you, but some people need more aural aide. I would say it has got the mellow vibe of Marley/Wailers era. Then again it also has newer, in the now, beats. Its a great album all around. Oh, I when I say album I mean cd. I am well aware of the difference.I just like the ring of it. But you can also get it on vinyl for those who enjoy mixing reggae. I have played it quite a few times at my job, and have gotten only positive responses, not only from employees but clients as well. The song that sticks in my head the most is the self titled track. That is more of his genes. The lyrics are flooring. Being a person who listens to all types of reggae I tend to like older stuff i.e. Bob Marley, the Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, to name a few...but several albums that have come out recently have brought it back. MIND CONTROL is proudly one of them. To be honest I would have enjoyed it regardless of who his family is. Although one glance at the man and you know. (As i said, those Marley genes are tremendous). So if you are looking for some hot new reggae-here you have it. I fore mentioned many more albums that I need for you guys to know. Whether you dig reggae or have only it hear it once in a while, I highly recommend adding this to your collection. Reggae is hotter than ever, and I am glad to say making a grand comeback. Jump on the bandwagon, you wont regret it.

hel is here

the intention of this blog is to return to my writing...now that i have the time again...i'm really focused on catching up to the wonderful world of shows, interviews, and of course, reviews...i am just trying to get into music from today, don't get me wrong there are good artists out there...i guess the nineties stuck pretty hard to me...i worked for 3 years at a music store and became acquainted to more stuff in the mid 2000 time...i also wrote for a newspaper here in winston salem called the yellow jacket with reviews and such...but the new editors were going the way of being more political so i was given the boot...i thought my ask hel column was pretty dang cool...so i moved onto amps 11...a zine out of charlotte...they changed editors quite often, and they are an e-zine now...i am really content to be writing again...well, i never quite stopped...journals are a necessity to me, but those are not to share with others...plus it has no reviews or interviews, just hel's ramblings...but being that this is,after all, a blog, i am going to throw random things into it as well...now just waiting on the cds from the promoters who have been super cool to help me along my way...ill keep you up to date...thank you for visiting hel's world...please come again....
